The six modules in this resource offer practical tools to deliver meaningful change across the O&G workforce. The content supports inclusive training, challenges bias, improves communication and empowers members to ensure equity across clinical practice.

Race equity in the workforce: introduction

This is the first of six modules of the RCOG resource, Race equity in the workforce. This module provides an overview of the background to developing the resource, introduces key concepts in race equity and considers its impact on the NHS.

Race equity in the workforce: anti-racist leadership

This module focuses on the importance of behaviours and language, and need for learners to take accountability for racism within their organisation. We discuss the importance of setting clear policies and finding means to monitor and measure discrimination in the workplace. The module starts with a preliminary assessment, followed by some core content for all learners to complete, plus some optional resources if you want to find out more.

This module has been developed for executive teams and Band 9 and above.

Race equity in the workforce: creating and supporting equitable teams

The focus of this module is the importance of diverse perspectives and the roles of inclusion, equity, and fairness in fostering collaborative cultures and driving innovation.

This resource has been developed for executive teams at Band 9 and above, chief executives, consultants, managers up to Band 9, senior SAS and LE doctors, resident doctors, LE and SAS doctors, midwives, nurses and allied health professionals.

Race equity in the workforce: support - fostering a sense of belonging

This module addresses the specific and varied moments in a clinician's career journey during which they may seek support.

The resource is primarily aimed at consultants and senior SAS/ LE doctors, nurses and midwives Band 7 and above. However, resident doctors, nurses and midwives at all levels may find the resources helpful.

Race equity in the workforce: empowerment - people have a voice and feel listened to

This module focuses on self-advocacy, negotiation, conflict resolution skills, encouragement, and challenging stereotypes and assumptions.

This module has been developed for executive teams at Band 9 and above, chief executives, consultants, managers up to Band 9, senior SAS and LE doctors, resident doctors, SAS and LE doctors, midwives, nurses and allied health professionals.

Race equity in the workforce: psychological safety at work

This module focuses on ensuring psychological safety by keeping spaces free from negative behaviours by equipping learners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to foster a workplace where employees feel safe to speak up against racism, engage in open dialogue, and contribute to an inclusive culture.

This module has been developed for executive teams at Band 9 and above, chief executives, consultants, managers up to Band 9, senior SAS and LE doctors, resident doctors, LE and SAS doctors, midwives, nurses and allied health professionals.
