When you have completed this course you will be able to:

• outline an awareness of what unconscious bias is
• be aware of why we need to become aware of unconscious bias
• describe what constitutes culture
• outline what cultural competence is, and why it is important to achieve competence
• understand allyship and mentorship, and their roles in reducing differential attainment
• understand who is a bystander, and what one can do when witnessing racist behaviour
• understand what reverse mentoring is and its role in reducing racism
• develop some mechanisms to become a culturally-competent, thinking upstander.
