This course is part of the RCOG Core Knowledge series.

The aim of this course, including the sample questions, is to assist learners in preparation for the Part 2 and Part 3 MRCOG examinations. The course will aid in the diagnosis, evaluation and management of patients who exhibit symptoms of posterior compartment pelvic floor dysfunction and should be used alongside other material on this topic.

 

When you have completed this course, you will be able to:

  • identify the anatomy of the posterior compartment and understand the physiology of defecation
  • define the different types of posterior compartment pelvic floor dysfunction (PCPFD) and understand the pathophysiology of PCPFD
  • assess a patient with PCPFD
  • use and be able to interpret relevant investigations
  • counsel patients with PCPFD about their management
