This course is part of the RCOG Core Knowledge series.

This course is part of the Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor module. It's aim is to aid completion of the urogynaecology and pelvic floor problems module in the training log book and passing the Parts 2 and 3 Membership Examination of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. No aid will ever match practical experience with discussion, reflection and insight.

When you have completed this course, you will be able to:

  • understand the importance of pelvic organ prolapse as a common clinical presentation in day to day practice
  • assess patient’s risk factors for developing pelvic organ prolapse on the basis of epidemiological features
  • assess patients clinical features through complete history taking, accurate physical examination and judicial use of special investigations
  • counsel patients about their management, providing them with adequate information about the advantages and disadvantages of alternative options in relation to their individual features.

This course is intended to help clinicians gain core knowledge for O&G training and the MRCOG examinations. It can also be used by O&G consultants to refresh their knowledge of the area or for teaching.
