When you have completed this course, you will be able to:

  • list the advantages and disadvantages of medical abortion after 10 and up to 24 weeks’ gestation
  • know the drugs and regimens used, mechanisms of action and contraindications
  • describe the side-effects of treatment and their management
  • understand what aftercare is required and when follow-up is necessary
  • be able to describe the contraceptive methods that can be used after medical abortion, and the timing of initiation.
