This course is part of the RCOG Core Knowledge series.
After many decades of the term 'subfertility' being used with the constant assumption of the word 'female' in front of it, male subfertility has joined the mainstream medical discourse. In many cases of male subfertility, however, a specific cause has yet to be identified. However, advances are being made, and the successful treatment of most cases of male subfertility makes studying this subject a particularly rewarding exercise.
This course discusses the causes, evaluation and treatment of male subfertility.
When you have completed this course you will be able to:
- talk about the analysis of normal seminal fluid and the definitions of male subfertility
- think about the causes of male subfertility in a structured way
- develop a systematic approach to the evaluation of individual cases of male subfertility
- consider the treatment options available and discuss their benefits and risks.
This course is intended to help clinicians gain core knowledge for O&G training and the MRCOG examinations. It can also be used by O&G consultants to refresh their knowledge of the area or for teaching.
