This course is part of the RCOG Core Knowledge series.
This course reviews the issues in diagnosing and managing women who experience an intrauterine fetal death (IUFD).
It will give you an insight into co-existent pre-pregnancy risk factors that may predispose to clinical challenges. It will also focus on appropriate investigations for women with IUFD. On completion of this tutorial, you should have a better understanding of IUFD and you will be capable of devising a specific management plan for women with IUFD in order to minimise risk to them.
When you have completed this course you will be able to:
- describe the physiology that may predispose to IUFD
- know the causes of IUFD
- assess the risk of maternal complications
- arrange and discuss appropriate investigations
- confidently devise a care plan for women who experience an IUFD
- manage the emotional wellbeing of the woman.
