• understand the pathophysiology of gestational diabetes
• be aware of the screening procedures for gestational diabetes
• know how to manage women with this condition
• understand maternal and fetal outcomes, including long term effects in the mother and child
• recognise some of the neonatal complications due to gestational diabetes.
