The answer is: NO!
For ARCP decisions, trainee performance and development is documented through:
- formative encounters (CbD and Mini-CEX tools) – as specified in the Educational progress matix, reflecting a combination of obstetrics and gynaecology cases
- summative encounters (OSATS) – three successful outcomes (by more than one assessor) are required per procedure.
However, for formative OSATS encounters, trainees should take as many SLEs as necessary until they feel ready to take a summative OSATS encounter.
