The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust have created an emotive learning package, which explores how human factors can influence the decisions we make during patient care. This package was designed to raise awareness of how learning about issues across multidisciplinary teams could prevent cases of avoidable hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE).
The main video along with its series of mini-videos raise awareness of human factors themes of confirmation bias, communication including SBAR and organisational culture. When used alongside the feedback worksheets available on the website or as a topic of discussion within a teaching session, this video effectively highlights the impact of human factors on maternity care.
The video is available here.
Please note that the main video is very emotive and some viewers may find the content upsetting. You will need to register as a user to access this video, it is free of charge to do so.
