Ureaplasmas are associated with habitual spontaneous abortion, unexplained infertility and low birthweight.
Bacterial vaginosis
M. hominis and U. urealyticum are components of bacterial vaginosis (BV).
BV is associated with an increased risk of:
- preterm prelabour rupture of membranes
- chorioamnionitis
- amniotic fluid colonisation
- low birthweight infants
- postpartum endometritis.
