The following morning (Day 5), she continued to be tachypnoeic (RR: 24/min). Her temperature was 36.9°C, O2 saturation: 96% on air; PR: 91/min and BP: 97/48 mmHg. Venous blood gas results were pH 7.37, pCO2: 5, pO2: 5.25, base excess: -3.1, Hb: 91 g/l and lactate: 2.37 mmol/l. Chest X-ray and ECG were normal. V/Q scan showed a low probability of pulmonary embolism. She was transferred to the delivery suite for closer monitoring.
